About Us

A 16th Century pub in Brandesburton

The Dacre Arms welcomes people of all ages and is an ideal restaurant for families in Brandesburton.

About us

Since the 16th century, an inn has stood on the present site of The Dacre Arms, previously named The Cross Keys.

With stabling for 50 horses around a cobbled yard, The Dacre Arms (named after Lord and Lady Dacre), became the most important Posting Station in the East Riding, offering visitors a refreshing drink and wholesome food. In one small room, the inn housed the local Court of Justice.

At the rear was another small room, the ‘Jockey Room’ used for harnessing. Also at the back of the inn, a lattice window overlooking the yard containing 150 pieces of glass. At that time, The Dacre Arms had its own brewery too. A ‘secret’ room was entered only by a trapdoor and served fugitives from the 1745 Jacobite rebellion. Later smugglers used the room to hide contraband.

Today, you will find a relaxed mixture of great beers and delicious home-cooked dishes in a lovely East Yorkshire village pub!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
About The Dacre Arms

Our happy customers

"Lovely bar and restaurant and a great choice on the menu. Had the Dacre burger which was huge and far too much, couldn't finish it. Good value for money too. Def recommend."
- Kirsty Trotter

"Beautiful Sunday dinner, fab portion sizes and lovely friendly staff :-)
Highly recommended!"
- Claire Terry

"We were advised to book even though it was midweek. So we booked a table through a Facebook Message which was replied to straight away. The place was quite busy at 6.30 on a Wednesday evening. We ordered the steak and ale pie which when it arrived was enormous. It came with chunky chips which are £1 extra but I do recommend, and peas. We could not eat it all there was that much. We really enjoyed our first visit and will return."
- John Allison
